The Coming Silent Disaster

WHY THE SILENCE ??????????
With the massive oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico we must assume that President Barak Obama has immediate access to the top scientists and scientific information in the world.Why then has there been absolutely no mention of the potentially massive effect on the world's oxygen levels? There has not been one mention in any of the Whitehouse statements or in any of the world press of this effect. We are getting heart wrenching pictures of oil coated birds,fish,vegetation, and animals. It is right that these should be shown but these is an even more massive world-wide threat that is hidden behind this media and political smokescreen.
A disaster on a world wide massive scale.
In 1968 there was the first major disaster in the North Sea, when an oil tanker, the Torrey Canyon sank with a huge cargo of oil. A cargo of 120,000 tons of oil. The British government of the time considered the threat so great that it sent RAF bombers fo destroy the Torrey Canyon. Actually in doing so they made the situation even worse. The oil corporation concerned then was ????? you guessed it BP, the same corporation that is responsible fro the present crisis.
At that time the late Lloyd V. Berkner was one of the world's top scientists with the space agency NASA, among other things he was the leading expert on oxygen and its levels. In a published statement he pointed out that diatoms, which are microscopic plants in the oceans provide more than half of the world's oxygen for us to breathe. These diatoms were being destroyed in such oil spills. He then wrote that it would only take a relatively small number of such disasters as the Torrey Canyon, in the wrong places, at the wrong times, to trigger a sudden and irreversible drop in the world's oxygen levels. Such an event could occur very rapidly.
We know of course that such events have occurred already in the past history of our planet, causing mass extinction events with destroyed most living things on our planet. We now refer to such evens as Extinction Level Events or ELE. These are events where we have lost more than half of the species present at the time. In the most recent of these events, the Tertiary we lost almost all the dinosaur species. There have been 5 events like this to date and most scientists agree that we are probably approaching the 6th.
In the 1968 Torrey Canyon incident the amount of oil concerned was 120,000 tons. ain the Gulf of Mexico today it is estimated conservatively at a million tons per day for 55 days. It was said to have been slowed but as at 25th June it has been reported to have broken through to full flow again.
Today, Obama has, much to his credit shown a willingness to confront the oil barons who are responsible, however he must be made aware that he has a responsibility in this, not only to the American people, but also to the rest of the people in the whole world.
Who is responsible? and Why?
It is of course clear that it is the massive oil industry corporations which are responsible and the reason is their fundamental Farenghi (for Star Trek fans) philosophies. Their prime motivations being profits, greed and hunger for power to the exclusion of all else.
The irresponsible, massively rich and powerful oil barons, and their corporations have already demonstrated their lack of concern and conscience by their past actions in earlier oil disasters. They have shown that they would rather spend huge sums of money, and clout, to use all available political, and legal methods, to avoid either physically rectifying the problem, or compensating those who have suffered as a result of their disasters.
The obscenely rich corporates and their irresponsible Robber Baron controllers in the oil industry must be reigned in, and brought to account before it is too late. These environmental lemmings cannot be allowed to destroy us all.
It was the USA which was the major architect of the modern corporations in their present form, It gave them birth and nurtured them. It therefore bears a responsibility to the rest of the world to help control their predatory and destructive actions. The USA must be part of the solution.
The rise and rise of Farenghi Corporations
Initially the Americans showed considerable wisdom and foresight. The early corporations were Chartered. A corporation was formed and it went to the representatives of the people. These representatives would either draw up or approve the charter which would specify what the corporation could and could not do. Usually there was a condition that the corporation would "act in the public interest". Violation of any of the conditions of the charter could result in the withdrawal of the charter, and the corporation could no longer operate. In other words the people controlled their environment.
With the American Civil War there were amendments to the American Constitution intended to give the former slaves, and all American citizens human rights. The first to get them were not the ex slaves but corporations which demanded to be recognized as "legal entities".These "new corporations" were no longer bound by charter conditions. They now had one sole over-riding requirement - to make profits for their shareholders,their sole motivation greed! The Farenghi Corporations were born.
It is clear they have abused the powers we have given them, and we must take back control.
Today of the 100 biggest economies in the world more than half are corporations - not countries.
A SUGGESTED SOLUTION
It is undesirable to just complain without having practical solutions. What follows is a first thought. There are undoubtedly many others. Please let us know what you think or what your ideas are. Initially send short emails to mervyn@teksupport.net.au
The solution I suggest initially is for the people of the world to take back control. We would suggest that the international community
Set up an agency of the United Nations, which needs to forget petty politics, stupid bickering, and national antagonisms. To stop bickering and to act in concert to bring corporations back under control.
The Agency must be open and transparent. It must be open for all world citizens and their representatives to make submissions, give evidence, and seek actions.
The agency must have the power to approve and withdraw charters.
Where a charter has been withdrawn all states and countries must refuse rejected corporations access or operating facilities.
OUR COUNTRIES,THE USA AND THE UN MUST ACT NOW BEFORE IT IS TOO LATE

Scream loud, scream ofter, scream everywhere. If we do not do it now we may not have enough oxygen for breath for the last scream,
