Oil spill havoc for marine ecology

The article states that Samantha Joye from the university of Georgia methane concentrations in one of the giant underwater plumes from the well are up to 10,000 times greater than normal levels. It is a mixture of oil and gas that has not been recorded in all recorded human history. The prestigious New Scientist that Joye's team found lowered levels of oxygen levels through the column near the plume as a result of bacteria that are digesting the oil........ Every year fertilizers from the USA coast boost algal growth which sucks oxygen out of the water and stifles other life forms, creating one of the world's largest known dead zones.
Comment: We have added the emphasis by bolding and italics. O f course the methane emissions will undoubtedly add to global worming and the effects of the reduced oxygen levels must cause concern, especially when these effects are spreading throughout the ocean at both surface and deep current levels.
