Corporate Ethics, Morality and Responsibility

Whilst there are many corporations out there who act with responsibility and with concern for the community it is sad and frightening to say that that is not the majority and certainly where the corporations are large. Let us consider the demonstrated actions of corporations in various industries.

1.      Tobacco corporations. Firstly it has been clearly demonstrated that they, the Tobacco Corporations, deliberately and knowingly concealed from the public their knowledge of the bad health effects of their products. The concealed the addictive nature of the product. They continue to sell their products to the poor, the ignorant and to those in countries where the governments have failed in their duty of care to their citizens. The corporations do this in the knowledge that many of those to whom they peddle their products will suffer from cancers and will die.The ethics, and morality of such behaviour is near impossible to defend.
